Royal Victoria Docks is one of the safest and cleanest open water swimming venues in London.
Royal Victoria Docks only connects to the Thames when it is being flushed through on rising tides - this happens every few months. The water in the Royal Docks is tested regularly. Many swims are held on the same stretch of water as London City Swim such as the Great London Swim and the London Triathlon (the biggest triathlon in the world), along with an open water swimming venue that is open several times a week. The Royal Victoria Dock is used specifically because it is deemed one of the safest in terms of water quality in London. The latest water quality report, supplied by the Royal Docks Management Authority, rated the water quality as excellent.
